Forestry equipment can be used for many different tasks. Below we cover some of their most common uses.

Some forestry equipment, like feller bunchers, are built to cut down trees. These models usually come with clamps and arms that are able to cut and move the trees to their destination. They also usually come with tracks, rather than wheels, so they can more easily navigate the unpredictable terrain found in the forest.
Some forestry equipment is tailored towards processing trees. Chainsaws, for example, can be used to turn the trees into smaller pieces of lumber that are easier to move. Yarders, on the other hand, can be used to transport those logs out of the forest and out of the way. Swing boom yarders are well-suited for navigating challenging terrain while fixed boom yarders are well-suited for navigating deep valleys.
Some forestry equipment is used after the trees are already removed from the area. They clear the area so that more trees can be planted. Stump grinders, for example, remove the tree stumps. Bulldozers, on the other hand, work the soil and help clear away unwanted debris.
